Youtube Coldplay Greatest Hits
I have been a huge Coldplay fan for quite a while, but I have never brought myself to purchase their entire albums. Don't wait to do it, just buy it now! This contains their first 4 major releases (Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, X&Y, and Viva la Vida). It does not include Prospekt's March, Mylo Xyloto, or Ghost Stories. The packaging was excellent, coming plastic wrapped in a cardstock box holding the 4 jewel cases. The individual disc cases were nothing special, the same as any CD would come in. There is a typo on the packaging.
For X&Y, there is a 13th track that is not listed entitled Til' Kingdom Come. I found it weird that it was not listed, however when I imported into iTunes (use Apple Lossless for best results), Gracenote found the listing and it included that track. I love this album, it is effortless to listen to. I bought the CD. The first Coldplay WAY back there (i.e like 'Yellow' era) was totally lost on me.

I own 'Rush of Blood to the Head' only like 3 songs on it. The rest of Rush Of.
Frankly drains me, is a malaise, I'm always skipping songs. I discovered Head Full of Dream per chance from the Youtube videos - was not expecting much.
The videos for this new album are amusing but it's the music that grabs me. The songs speak to me - all of them. I get energy from this music.
It has a melody that I can internalize and enjoy. Life affirming - even the piano ballad. I can. remember. it and it's nourishing not draining. By the way, I'm not a.
It's very, very mellow. Anyway, at first, none of the songs really stood out. But flash forward 7-8 months, and this is quite a nice, relaxing, and very, very soothing alternative CD. And Chris Martin's voice for the most part, fits right in! My favorite songs are: Spies (great underrated lyrics I never understood till now) Don't Panic High Speed Sparks Trouble (nice piano) I now own all 3 of Coldplay's albums.
I think that this album is there very, very best, and they expanded their sound, to reach the masses with ASIN:B000069AUI A Rush of Blood to the Head. It was nearly as good, but less unique than this CD. ASIN:B0006L16N8 X&Y was most definitely the weakest link.
But all of the CDs have at least 4 inspiring tracks on them. I really like the upbeat numbers that they do; Clocks, Daylight, Speed Of Sound, Fix You and Square One are amongst my favorites!
This CD should be owned by most alternative. I been listening Ghost Stories for about 4 days and it is so melodic, soothing, brave, honest and inspiring. Yes, inspiring! Can you be in love and mess up?
Of course you can.Is it permitted? We are humans and make good and bad choices and this album is like a lullaby to my ears ringing soothingness to my heart and soul. For a 37 year old female who has been married for 12 years and counting.hopefully, I can relate to the powerful lyrics and enjoy the melodic sounds that bring peace to my heart. I find it less elaborate that VIVA la VIDA, which I love for its edginess. This album it is between Parachutes and X & Y. The sounds and lyrics are direct and simple.
Do recommend this album a lot. I am thinking it would do better than Mylo Xyloto, with so much publicity.
Watching the Coldplay: Live 2003 DVD has me questioning critics who said this band was for 'moony high school girls.' Do these critics understand the appeal of a band connecting with the heart of an audience or understand what 'women' want to hear? 'Let me in, unlock the door. I've never felt this way before.' 'Til Kingdom Come - the lyrics are insightful and emotionally honest.
The poetry in the songs is comforting so you can relax and just enjoy the way the lyrics wash over your soul. 'Hold my hand inside your hands, I need someone who understands.
I need someone, someone who hears, For you, I've waited all these years.' 'And say you'll come, and set me free, Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.' I've rarely seen a band play with more passion and I was literally speechless after watching the concert, not to mention getting shivers more times that I can count. Their appeal is.
I only give it 4 stars because I don't like to give 5 stars to anything unless it has life-altering capabilities (e.g. OK Computer).
The live version of 'In My Place' is nice, but nothing unusual. The 3rd track, '1.36' is an energetic number, but nothing spectacular.
The fourth song, 'I Ran Away,' is pure and beautiful. Although it's production is a little raw, this song is the sole reason you must buy this single. In my opinion, Coldplay still hasn't put out a bad song, from the Safety EP, to both studio albums, to every last b-side. It's ALL good.
Also, make sure you buy this particular release, because it's the only one with the live version of 'In My Place.' By the way, I just saw Coldplay in concert last week. If you ever get a chance to see them live, you have. This is the best EP I have bought in a LONG time. Most EPs suck. But I'm very happy to recommend this EP to all Coldplay fans and those who want to try out Coldplay.
Life in Technicolor II is just as good if not better than the 'original'. PostCards from Far Away is a beautiful little piano ditty; Glass of Water and Rainy Day are both catchy, perfect upbeat Coldplay songs fully worthy of being on a full release album. If you had to get just 1 song off this EP, I would recommend one of these two.
Prospekt's March/Poppyfields is kind of boring to me. It sounds like something from 'X&Y' without the spacy sounds. I just don't care for it. Now my Feet Won't Touch the Ground is okay, another slow song; the acoustic guitar and trumpets at the end save it from mediocrity.
I still tend to skip. For me the most enjoyable parts of this CD/DVD comp were on the DVD (had gotten a preview of the songs on LaunchCast so i knew what to expect sonically from the band). The extras showed some cool things like Chris Martin singing in the shower with his clothes on:D, the band kicking it in a little harder on 'Trouble' (very unexpected, wished they did it more often), the psycho fan in LA who tried to jump the fence:? And the multiple angles of all the band members. From the CD side of things, there wasn't that much difference between the studio & live versions aside from crowd participation, so the newer songs, 'Moses', 'One I Love', & 'See You Soon' are most welcome. All in all, a good addition to the catalog.
